The crash occurred at about 5:12 p.m. Sunday, when the Platte County Sheriff’s Department responded to the collision at the intersection of Hwy. 92 and Interurban Road, several miles east of Platte City.

According to Major Erik Holland with the sheriff’s department, based on the initial investigation it appears that a 2010 Lincoln sedan driven by Stielow was struck by an eastbound 2008 Chevy pickup truck after the Lincoln entered Hwy. 92 from Interurban.

Authorities say the Lincoln rolled over and came to rest on the north side of Hwy. 92. The driver died at the scene. The passenger of the Lincoln was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Holland said.

The driver and passenger of the Chevy pickup truck received minor injuries.

Holland said the crash is being investigated by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team.
