45 Years Ago–February 13, 1976

Mrs. Susan L. Bremer of Platte City and Richard Foster of Coffeyville, Kan. announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Deborah Susan, to Melvin Grame, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Grame of Platte City. The couple will exchange vows Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston.


Mr. and Mrs. James R. Geisler announce the birth of their son, James R. Geisler, II, on Jan. 29, 1976. He weighed seven pounds, two ounces. Jimmie has a proud sister, Tiffany, three years old. His maternal grandmother is Mrs. William E. Mahon, formerly Elaine (Dodie) Cox, of Platte City.


Mr. and Mrs. Leo Peterson were honored Sunday, Feb. 7 on their 35th wedding anniversary by dinner prepared and served by their daughter, Janet. Guests besides their son, Monte, were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Peterson.


Miss Leeia K. Kossen, a senior at the Platte County R-3 High School has been named one of the 1976 Betty Crocker Family Leaders of Tomorrow by scoring highest at their schools in a written knowledge and attitude examination administered to seniors throughout the country last December.


A five percent reduction in 1976 farm marketing quota of burley tobacco has been announced by the USDA. This reduction is the maximum allowed by law and was taken to maintain supplies in line with demand.
