Two of the four aldermen positions up for grabs at the City of Parkville will see contested races in the April 6 election.
Filing for municipal candidates ended at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
CITY OF PARKVILLE
There are four incumbent aldermen up for election at Parkville. Philip Wassmer, incumbent alderman in ward one, and Douglas P. Wylie, incumbent in ward three, will face opposition.
Here’s how it shakes out.
Ward one aldermen filings: Philip Wassmer, Emily Boullear, Patricia S. Robinson.
Ward two: Brian T. Whitley, incumbent, unopposed.
Ward three: Incumbent Douglas P. Wylie and John Carter, a physician who resides in Parkville.
Ward four: Incumbent Greg Plumb unopposed.
CITY OF WESTON
The mayor position, currently held by Steve George, is up for grabs in April. George did not file for re-election. Kent Stelljes filed for mayor, the only person to do so.
Ward one filing is Steve Unfred. Incumbent Joyce Priddy originally filed also, then on Wednesday morning the Weston city clerk notified The Landmark that Priddy has withdrawn
Ward two incumbent Michael Goentzel will be challenged by Mark Seymour.
CITY OF PLATTE CITY
No contested races at Platte City. Incumbents Vickie Atkins in ward one; Steve Hoeger in ward two and John Higgins in ward three are each seeking re-election and each is unopposed on the ballot.
CITY OF RIVERSIDE
Riverside voters will have a choice in one of the three wards that have seats open.
Ward one filings: Incumbent Al Bowman will be challenged by Mike Fuller.
Ward two: Robert N. Milner was the only candidate to file. Incumbent Aaron Thatcher is not seeking re-election.
Ward three: Incumbent Salvatore LoPorto was the only filing.
