The Fun and Friendship Club enjoyed a Christmas dinner and party at Shannon Hall of the United Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 16. In eagerness of 53 guests, who may rightly be called oldsters in years but not in spirit, arrived before the appointed hour bearing delicacies of food for the smorgasbord dinner spread on the long table in the center of the hall. After the blessing by Rev. Jimmie Roller, pastor of the church, the guests made choices from the numerous dishes.


The Platte Hills Homemakers Club held their annual Christmas party at the beautifully decorated home of Mrs. A.E Schrimsher in Parkville on Dec. 20.

The Board of Education of Platte County R-3 School District met Thursday, Dec. 18 with the full board, administrators, several teachers and parents present. Protest was received against cutback of teachers’ aides and teacher clerks in the middle of the school year.


At the home of Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Herndon of Smithville, Miss Elaine Anderson, bride-elect, was honored with a miscellaneous shower on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 14. Mrs. Miller Herndon was assisting hostess.


Mrs. Cecil Barton of Platte City and Mrs. Silas Taylor of Dearborn entertained a lunch Saturday at the home of Mrs. Barton. The guests were the North Platte High School 1958 lady classmates of the hostess.
