45 Years Ago–November 28, 1975

Mrs. Leonard Holt of Platte City has announced the engagement of her daughter, Kristina J. Holt, to William C. Mather, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mather, of Laurens, Iowa. A February wedding is being planned.


Mr. and Mrs. John Hancock returned home last Thursday after an extended tour of Mexico and Central America and a visit with relatives in California.


Rick Corcoran of Columbia visited his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hon last weekend. They attended the KU-MU football game at Lawrence on Saturday.


Mrs. Guy Best of rural Dearborn deserves congratulations for her culinary ability. Of the recipes she submitted to the contest for the fifth annual News-Press Cookbook, she had three accepted for printing in the book. She received honorable mention for her Mexican potato ball recipe


Gary Poole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Poole, has been at the Spelman Hospital this week for tests and observation.


The Weston branch of the Mid-Continent Library will be moving to new quarters during the month of November. The library has been located in its present location since July 1960 when the museum board offered the library space in its new museum. The new location at 501 Main will double the size of the library and increase its book capacity to around 10,000 volumes.
