No Thanksgiving Eve event in Platte City this year
COVID-19 is influencing some activities of the Platte City Chamber of Commerce, Angie Mutti, executive director of the chamber, said this week.
The regular monthly chamber luncheon last week was moved to an all-virtual event. It featured Platte County High School Principal Dr. Keith Jones as speaker. Jones presented on partnerships and supporting diversity in the Platte City community.
Also, on Friday the chamber officially announced it is canceling the Platte City Holiday Parade and Lighting Celebration that was scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 25.
COVID-19 awareness and guidelines were the reasons behind the cancellation.
The holiday lights on the exterior of the Platte County Courthouse and on downtown businesses will be set aglow Wednesday night, Nov. 25 and remain visible throughout the holiday season.
