The crash occurred on southbound Interstate 29 about three miles south of the Camden Point exit. The crash happened as five vehicles were slowing for another wreck ahead, according to the crash report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A 2013 Freightliner tractor trailer, driven by Patrick S. Love, 27, of Columbia, struck Shupert’s 2020 Mini Cooper in the rear, causing a chain reaction.

Shupert’s vehicle then struck a 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by Joseph R. Ramsey, 52, of Leawood, Kan. The Jeep then struck a 2020 Tesla driven by Michael Shafee, 56, of Weatherby Lake. The Tesla then struck a 2009 Cadillac Coach driven by Emily Erickson, 23, of Marshall, Minn.

According to the highway patrol report, Shupert was the only person injured in the crash.

The crash for which the vehicles were slowing had occurred about 15 minutes prior. In that crash, a 2005 Pontiac G6 was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the rear of a 2002 Ford Ranger and overturned.

Driver of the Pontiac was Darrell R. Wilkins, 29, of Kansas City. He suffered moderate injuries.

Driver of the Ford Ranger was Guillermo Dominguez, 27 of Kansas City, Kan., who suffered moderate injuries. A passenger in the Ranger, Gina Gomez, 25, of Kansas City, Kan. suffered minor injuries.
