30 Years Ago–November 2, 1990

A legal snafu has put plans for development of a Platte City Community Center in the old Annex Elementary School building on hold.


Gordon Miller of Platte City has been named Outstanding Platte Countian of 1990 by the Platte County Historical Society.


Sam and Liz Searcy will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception given by their children, Jerry Carolyn and Joe, from 2-5 p.m. Nov. 3 at Carolyn’s home. Sam and Liz were married Nov. 2, 1940, in Weston, Mo and have resided in the Platte City area the last 40 years.


A baby shower was held for Kim Testorff Sunday afternoon by Janice Boydston and Evelyn Potter at the home of Janice. There were 26 guests in attendance.


The publications department of Platte County R-3 High School won a total of four awards at the annual Communications Day sponsored by Missouri Western State College. The Pirateer, the yearbook, won first place for multi-page layout and second place for feature writing. “The Pirate Clipper,” the newspaper, won second place for news writing and opinion writing.
