The spurt of residential growth south of Platte City in the past few years is now sparking an initial flame in planned commercial development in that area. Phoenix Real Estate Investment, LLC has submitted to the Platte County Planning and Zoning Department preliminary plans for what would be known as Fox Hill Center at the intersection of D Hwy. and Running Horse Road. The proposed center would sit on about 25 acres and would be spread over six phases of development. According to developer Steve Hon, the first phase would consist of 11,000 square feet of retail space, one pad site featuring a branch for Wells Bank and another pad site still available for development.
Platte County officeholders favor a mid-term cost of living increase for officeholders but the constitutionality of the action is called into question. County counselor Bob Shaw is expected to research the matter. The Platte County Salary Commission is comprised of 12 elected officials. The salary commission has until Dec. 15 to rescind the action taken this week if Shaw later advises the motion to be illegal or unconstitutional.
Parkville Board of Aldermen extended its unanimous support to a resolution to join with other nearby municipalities and unincorporated areas of Platte County to form the Southern Platte County Ambulance District.
