The Pizza Shoppe in Platte City is getting new owners and is currently closed for some updating and remodeling.

New owners, as posted on the Pizza Shoppe’s Facebook page, are Kim and Janice Clizer.

The new owners, officially Clizer Enterprises LLC-dba Pizza Shoppe- Platte City, have applied for a liquor license allowing malt liquor (beer and wine) by the drink and Sunday sales.

The liquor license application is working its way through the City of Platte City. Last week, the city’s public safety committee advanced the process to the board of aldermen.

The aldermen are expected to formally approve the license at its meeting later this month.

Ownership change of the Pizza Shoppe became official on Oct. 1, city officials said.

Pizza Shoppe is located at 2437 Prairie View Road in Platte City.

The applicant is required to provide the city a copy of its state liquor license upon receipt of the state license.

Fees for the city license are prorated for the remainder of this license year, which ends on June 30, 2020. The new owners of the Pizza Shoppe have already paid the prorated fee of $250 to the city, city officials said.

Janice Clizer recently posted on Pizza Shoppe Facebook page: “We are pleased to announce Kim and I have purchased the Pizza Shoppe in Platte City. We have some updating and remodeling to get done. We are anxious to get open and seeing everyone soon.”
