School officials say the parade will be different this year
Platte County High School’s Homecoming festivities will run Sept. 28 through Oct. 2, and although some things may look different this year, some things will remain the same, according to school district officials.
This year’s theme is “Oz: There’s No Place Like Home.”
Homecoming Spirit Week: Homecoming spirit week will continue as usual this year. Dress up days will be encouraged throughout the district, and PCHS students will compete in their grade-level hallway decorations.
Homecoming spirit days are listed below, and PCHS will communicate about hallway decorations and pep assemblies.
.Monday: Poppies Will Put Them to Sleep – Wear your pajamas
.Tuesday: Time Twister Tuesday – “Witch” decade will you choose?
.Wednesday: Back in Kansas – Hike up your britches & grab your flannels. It’s country day!
.Thursday: Lions & Tigers & Bears, OH MY! Wear animal print or something with an animal.
.Friday: There’s No Place Like Homecoming – Wear black and orange
Homecoming Parade: In lieu of the annual homecoming parade that typically runs on Fourth Street in Platte City, PCR-3 will host a “reverse parade” through the PCR-3 north campus, on Friday, Oct. 2 from 3-4 p.m. Students will be dismissed three hours early on Oct. 2. If your group (student group or community group) normally participate in our parade, or you would like to participate this year, consider making a homecoming banner to post in the reverse parade.
The parade route will be lined with these banners to show off homecoming community spirit and parade-goers will finish the parade waving to the PCHS Homecoming court, according to school officials. Banner entries will be due to the District Education Center by Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Homecoming Football Game: The Pirates will take on the Ruskin Eagles at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at Pirate Stadium. While spectators will continue to be limited, PCHS seniors will be allowed entry to this game.
PCHS Got Character Seniors will be recognized during pregame, and the homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime. Pirate fans can tune in via NHFS to watch the game from home.
