Crewmen poured concrete Wednesday, Aug. 19 to make a new exit ramp from northbound I-29 to NW 64th Street.

The construction is part of the Prairie View Road improvement project to realign NW Prairie View Road on the south side of NW 64th Street from Interstate 29 with N. Chatham Ave. and NW 62nd Terrace.

The contractors expect the roadway tie-in of NW Prairie View Road to N. Chatham Rd. to be completed next month.

These improvements are intended to reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and improve safety.

The road project also includes new street lighting, storm sewer and water main work. Additionally, new curbs, gutters and sidewalks will be added.

According to information provided by project manager Kim Pemberton with the City of Kansas City, a roundabout will be constructed where Chatham Ave., NW 62nd Street and the realigned Prairie View Road come together.

The road improvement project is funded by general obligation bond funding and federal funding from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
