45 Years Ago–Aug. 8, 1975

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sanders announce the birth of their daughter, Janet Louise, on August 1, 1975 at Research Hospital in Kansas City. Mrs. Sanders is the former Carolee Grame. The grandparents of Janet Louise are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grame of Platte City and Mr. and Mrs. Rolly Sanders of Windsor, Mo.


The Platte County Fair Queen was Kimberly Simmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Simmons, Kansas City, Mo., sponsored by the Platte Woods Pizza Shoppe. First runner-up, Cathy Jean Ryan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ryan, Kansas City, Mo., sponsored by the Laurel Bank of Platte County. Miss Ryan was also chosen “Miss Congeniality.” Second runner-up is Ellen Kisker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Kisker, Platte City, sponsored by Weston Jaycees.


The marriage of Donna Jean Keesaman, of New Market, Mo., and Robert Craig Pinney of Chillicothe, Mo., took place Aug. 1, 1975 at Loose Park of Kansas City, Mo. with Rev. Byron Paxton officiating. The ceremony was performed in the beautiful Rose Garden in the presence of the family and a few friends.


D.C. and Doris Lamar will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception at the Christian Church in Weston, Mo., on Sunday, Aug. 17.


Thursday, July 31, marked the mandatory age retirement for C.G. Cocayne, postmaster at Waldren, Missouri for nearly 38 years. Mr. Cocayne ranked sixth in length of service for postmasters statewide.
