Weston city officials were joined by Platte County Presiding Commissioner Betty Knight and 2nd District Commissioner Jim Plunkett to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the new Spring Street Bridge over Mill Creek last Friday. The new bridge takes the place of the previous bridge that was built circa 1922 and demolished in November of 2004. The new bridge is a pre-cast, concrete-girdered bridge that was designed by Harrington & Cortelyou of Kansas City. The City of Weston was responsible for the cost of the bridge, a portion of which was paid from Weston’s allocation of the county-wide transportation sales tax. The Thomas Street Bridge over Will Creek is the next bridge project in Weston, scheduled to begin later this year.
