In recognition of National Trails Day, Platte County celebrated the day with the opening of its newest trail system last Saturday. Approximately 50 people gathered at Lakeview Middle School to be the first folks to walk Southern Platte Pass. Southern Platte Pass, located along 64th Street from 9 Hwy east to Chatham Drive, is nearly a four-mile trail funded through a multi-agency partnership.

One year after its opening, Zona Rosa has become a popular destination spot in Platte County. Still in phase one of its development, the new urban town center of the Northland continues to provide a unique atmosphere to its daily visitors. Nearly one year to the date of its official opening, Zona Rosa currently has 60 businesses ranging from clothing stores to a mix of restaurants to a book store and a photography studio.

The Committee to Elect Jason Grill held a successful reception in honor of Jason Grill and the Tiffany Greens Community Center on May 31. The event raised around $6,000 in support of Grill’s 2006 campaign for state representative in southern Platte County. The committee has raised nearly $11,000 up to this point for the Grill 2006 campaign. “I am truly honored by the amount of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents who support my clear, common-sense vision for southern Platte County and Missouri,” said Grill, a Northland attorney and Park University professor.
