Free COVID-19 testing site in Platte County

The Platte County Health Department announces that the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), in partnership with the Missouri National Guard, is setting up a free large-scale COVID-19 testing site.

Starting Monday, June 8, and again Tuesday, June 9, testing will be available from 7 a.m. -7 p.m. both days at Platte City Middle School, 900 Pirate Drive, Platte City, MO 64079.

Registration for testing can be completed online at health.mo.gov/communitytest. For those who do not have the ability to register online,  contact the DHSS COVID Hotline at 877-435-8411.

DHSS and Missouri National Guard encourages individuals to pre-register, but walk-ins to the event will only be tested if there are remaining appointments available. The only eligibility for the testing is to be a Missouri resident. The testing is a nasopharyngeal swab.

For a positive result, the individual tested will be contacted by DHSS by a nurse with further instructions, time for questions, and notification that their local health department will be calling for further case investigation/contract tracing. Individuals who test negative will be notified in one of the following ways according to their preference when registering – looking in MYQuest portal, notification by text, or notification by phone call. The instructions for MyQuest are provided in an email after the specimen is collected.

“It is important for the health of our residents that we continue to monitor the presents of the virus in our community as we continue to open the county back up,” said Mary Jo Vernon, Director of the Platte County Health Department.
