The developer of the Ambassador Building, formerly known as the Farmland Building, located at N. Ambassador Drive and Cookingham Road near KCI has proposed a plan to construct a mix of commercial developments, including hotels, restaurants, parking facilities, office spaces and convenience store.
On Tuesday, stakeholders attended a public meeting where Patricia Jensen with the Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes Law Firm presented a proposed development plan to surrounding business leaders.
The first and second phases of the plan call for the development of a new airport parking facility along Cookingham Road.
The third phase calls for the construction of four hotels that range in size anywhere from 100 to 130 rooms, a convenience store, 150,000 sq. ft office building and restaurant pads.
Some business and city leaders raised concerns over increased traffic along Cookingham Road because Park N Go with its 2,625 parking spaces opened earlier this year adjacent to the proposed development.
Jensen said Christian Skinner conducted a traffic study of the area and is confident that MoDOT will create a safe intersection at Cookingham Road and Ambassador Drive.
On Tuesday, May 19 the Kansas City Plan Commission will hold a public meeting to address the developer’s request to rezone the southeast corner of the property, which is currently zoned as AG-R.
