Who’s getting greased in this deal?

EDITOR:

Imagine my surprise as I walked out of Price Chopper with a copy of The Landmark. Bemused, I could only smile at such an outlandish headline: County okays $48,000 pact to ‘educate’ targeted voters.

My oh my! The alarm sounded, and I started talking like Tommy Lee Jones’s character, the sheriff, in No Country for Old Men! “I reckon there’s one question that needs asking: who’s getting greased with this here deal?” Or for highfalutin folks, “There’s something rotten in the state of Denmark.”

Seriously, in the midst of a pandemic, the Platte County Commission thinks it’s a great idea to perform “targeted education’ of potential voters. Talk about political malfeasance.

Certainly, there are other areas of greater importance where $48,000 would go a long way, like making certain the Platte County Health Department has all necessary medical equipment ready for the COVID-19 apex that will soon strike Missouri.

This is yet another example of an elected entity wasting taxpayer money as if they were playing Monopoly. No wonder our

community lacks faith in the commission to do right by our collective hard-earned money.

Clearly, someone is getting greased in this deal and it’s not the fine citizens of Platte County.

We deserve better!

Shaking my head.
