A proposed $4.7 million Platte County R-3 school bond issue was the topic at the regular monthly meeting of the Platte City Chamber of Commerce Thursday. Karon Roberts, R-3 school board member, told the Chamber and guests that they should vote yes on April 3 for the bond issue, which will include $1.2 million for a Barry School addition, $3 million for a new building in Platte City between the high school and the existing middle school, and $500,000 for improvements to existing buildings. Roberts also urged the audience to vote against another proposal which would permit the southern part of the district to leave the R-3 district and join the Park Hill R-5 district.

Three men are seeking election as judge of the municipal division of circuit court in Platte City’s April 3 city election. They are Jack H. Hansel, Michael Fogal and R.B. Miller.

The collapse of Ted J. Ehney Jr.’s Executive Hills North empire continues with more foreclosure sales. The Kansas City Star, in an article by Chris Lester, real estate writer, reported last week that five foreclosure sales against Executive Hills North, set for April 9 at the courthouse in Platte City, will total $53.3 million. Public notice of the action appeared in last week’s issue of The Landmark and again in this week’s issue. In addition, a new public notice is in this week’s Landmark for still another foreclosure sale against Executive Hills North, this one set for April 16.
