There was some excitement in the parking lot and surrounding area outside the Missouri Probation and Parole office in Platte City on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Three people were taken into custody after police were dispatched to the Probation and Parole office in the strip mall at 1120 Branch Street in the mid-afternoon that day.
Officers had been dispatched to the probation office to take custody of a man who was reported to be a person of interest in a murder case in North Kansas City.
Upon arrival of police, the man fled the building and ran through the parking lot. He attempted to enter the front passenger seat of a vehicle in the lot in front of the Dollar General store.
The car was occupied by acquaintances of the man, who was unable to open the door and attempted to crawl over the vehicle. He was subdued by a Platte City officer using a Taser and was taken into custody.
That man was identified as Zaine Lindenberg, 21, of Kansas City. He was taken to the Platte County Jail and held on a parole violation for unlawful use of a weapon and drug charges.
While Lindenberg was being taken into custody by the Platte City officer, a second male who had occupied a rear passenger seat in the vehicle fled from the car and ran toward Interstate 29. He was eventually captured by a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer who was in the area to assist.
Police say that man was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, and was taken to jail and held on a parole violation for domestic assault. He was identified as Jordan Kraus, 24, of Kansas City.
The female driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for an outstanding felony warrant, police say. She was identified as Savana Coke, 19, of Riverside. She is held on a $50,000 cash-only probation violation for theft of a firearm and larceny.
Sgt. Mike Mand of the Platte City Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and it’s possible additional criminal charges could be sought.
