We must be aware that, in America, we do not operate as a pure democracy but as a Democratic Republic. There is a critical difference and you need to check that out. I hope you would not advocate turning the operation of this country in 2018 over to these weekend marchers. I do understand that they are upset …. and I do understand we have failed them in protecting our school systems from violence as we have protected jewelry stores, banks, federal buildings, movie stars, prominent politicians, major sporting events, court rooms, etc……the message is that we can and we must do better. Some don’t like the dangers that have been thrust upon us in the 21st Century, but this is the real world that Israel faced some time ago…..the Israelies took the necessary steps….we must harden school sites and provide armed guards for schools and do it in a determined way. Yes,we must provide these kids as much safety as we do our jewelry stores, banks, federal buildings, movie stars, prominent politicians, major sporting events, court rooms, etc, in this terribly and increasingly dangerous world. …… But we live in and must function within a Democratic Republic which is our system and which was carefully designed for our country.
And we must learn to live and function in this increasingly dangerous world, whether we like it or not. The United States is not a pure Democracy and some do not understand that.. Check the difference between the two.
