Kenneth Corder, who was reported missing by his family in Grandview, was found dead in Riverside Saturday morning.
According to Sergeant VanLeeuwen, with the Riverside, Missouri Police Department, Corder’s vehicle was discovered around 11:30 a.m. by an unidentified person doing work on the highway. This individual did not report seeing Corder’s body when he called the police to report an abandoned vehicle.
When police investigated the call they found the body of Corder next to the vehicle. Corder, reported to be 81 years old, was found on an old service road just north of Argosy Casino, near 69 Highway and Interstate 635. VanLeeuwen stated that during his tenure at the Riverside Police Department, the service road has not been used.
Sergeant VanLeeuwen stated that there appears to be no signs of foul play. The Riverside Police Department added that the Jackson County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The official report should be available in three to four weeks, according to VanLeeuwen.
Corder was reported missing to the Grandview Police Department on Sept. 16. Several days ago, he was spotted at a Quik Trip near 68th Street and 169.
VanLeeuwen stated that from the information obtained from the Grandview Police Department, Corder did not suffer from dementia.
Corder leaves behind a wife, kids, and a large extended family.
