Changes in the meeting frequency of the Platte County commissioners’ administrative sessions have raised a few questions in the community.
Historically conducted weekly, the county’s internet calendar shows that since presiding commissioner Jason Brown took office at the beginning of the year, the administrative sessions convened once in January, three times in February and will hold a total of two administrative sessions in March with two meetings.
Meetings for April have not yet been slated.
Brown, who was elected in November and took office Jan. 1, said that there were many budget meetings in January and so the commission met less often. As for the other scheduling changes, Brown cited efforts at efficiency and said the commission would have as many meetings per month as necessary to conduct the county’s business.
“We’ve gone from three last month to two this month and they’re every other week on the 14th and the 28th. If that will be the same schedule next month, I don’t know because we haven’t set anything in April yet,” said Brown. “Next month we could have two, we could have three, we could have four. We could have any number of them.
“We’re going to be efficient and do what we need to do to get through these economic times,” he said.
