At the June 22 board of aldermen meeting local attorney Mark M. Ferguson was appointed as Riverside’s next municipal court judge.

Ferguson received his Juris Doctorate Degree from UMKC in 1990 and has been a practicing attorney in private practice since that time. In 1996 he was appointed as the municipal prosecutor for Riverside, a position he has held since that time. Additionally he has been an assistant prosecuting attorney for both Platte and Clay counties.

Ferguson is active in many professional and civic associations, including the American, Clay, Platte and Kansas City Bar Associations, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Kansas City. He is president of the 300-plus member Harambe FC Soccer Club.

David Blackburn, Riverside’s city administrator stated, “We are extremely fortunate to have Mr. Ferguson’s continued association with Riverside’s court. His dedicated work as the city prosecutor and his professional approach to the law made him a natural fit for our court. I am delighted to welcome Judge Ferguson to the bench.”

Ferguson was administered the oath of office in a ceremony on Friday, June 25 in the Board of Aldermen Chambers, Riverside City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road.
