The Main Street Parkville Association announces the 41st Annual Parkville Days Riverfest, Friday, Aug. 21 – Sunday, Aug. 23 by the banks of the Missouri River in English Landing Park, Downtown Historic Parkville, Missouri.

A business boom in downtown Parkville

Nationally and internationally acclaimed jazz and blues bands perform each year at this festival. This year’s festival features Josh Vowel & The Rumble, Max Groove and Hal Wakes on Friday, Aug. 21 and Wanda Watson Band, Everett Devan W/ Tom “Trashmouth” Baker, Scottyboy Daniels Blues Band and Levee Town on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Over 100 arts, crafts, food and commercial booths will encircle the festival area. Other attractions include the “Children’s Adventure Land” featuring games, petting zoo, pony rides, family activities, and other children’s activities. Plus, the Evans Midland Empire Carnival will supply spinning thrills for the whole family. Wristband special will be offered Friday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 22.

The parade is Saturday, Aug. 22, 10 a.m. in Downtown Parkville – Main Street. Bill and Fran Grigsby will lead the way as the parade Grand Marshals. This year’s theme is “Rolling Through Parkville” and monetary prizes will be awarded to the top three “Best Themed” and one “Best Parkville Neighborhood” entries.

Parkville Days Riverfest will hold its Annual Little Miss and Mister Parkville Pageant in the shade of the cottonwoods in the heart of English Landing Park. The contest starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22. To learn more about the pageant, contact Maxine McKeon – pageant chairperson at 816-741-1603.

Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a relaxing day at English Landing Park. Alcohol will be available at the festival; but cannot be taken out of the park. Outside alcohol will not be allowed into the park.

41st Annual Parkville Days Riverfest is now accepting parade applications. The parade will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 10 a.m. It begins at 63rd Street and Hwy 9 and ends in Historic Downtown Parkville on Main Street. Bill and Fran Grigsby will lead the parade as the Grand Marshals.

This year’s theme is “Rolling through Parkville.” Monetary prizes will be awarded to the “Best Themed” and “Best Parkville Neighborhood” entries. All participants are asked to decorate their entries accordingly.

If you, your business, church, civic or community group are interested in participating the parade this year please visit www.parkvillemo.org for the parade application or call 816-505-2227. No fee to participate in the parade. Parade applications are due by Wednesday, Aug. 19.
