Platte City Police Chief Richard Sayles said the incident involved a male and female who are both 15 years old.

Names were not released because both parties are juveniles.

Al Devalkenaere, Platte City Police Department detective, said the incident occurred on April 1 and the delay in reporting the incident occurred because of a miscommunication between the parents of the reported victim and another person who was expected to contact police.

The parents contacted the police on April 20.

Devalkenaere said the incident occurred in the evening of April 1.

According to Sayles, the information is being forwarded to the juvenile court system to be processed.

The Platte City Police are still investigating the incident and following leads in the case.
