A Platte City woman reported to Platte City police officers that she had been raped early Sunday morning.

The alleged victim, age 36, who resides in the 100 block of High St. in the north part of town, called police about 1:36 a.m. on Sunday to report that she had been raped, stated Platte City police chief Richard Sayles.

According to police blotter reports and police officials, Platte City officers then made contact with the victim, who reported to them that she had been expecting a friend to come over.

She heard a knock at her door early in the morning, and she opened the door because she thought it was the guest she was expecting.

After opening the door, the alleged suspect entered her residence and sexually assaulted her in an aggravated manner, according to the police blotter.

Platte City detectives are investigating the report as a rape.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Platte City police did not have enough information or evidence to arrest the suspect, chief Sayles said.

The investigation continues.
