Anticipating a crowd, Dearborn’s leaders have decided to move a public meeting next week to the high school gym at North Platte.
The long-awaited results of a state audit of the city’s books and procedures will be announced next Tuesday, Nov. 1, 6:30 p.m. at the North Platte High School.
The office of State Auditor Claire McCaskill will deliver a public report on the audit of the City of Dearborn.
The state auditor began an audit of the City of Dearborn after receiving a citizens’ petition, with that petition drive being led by Alderman Bill Edwards. State law requires the state auditor to conduct an audit of any political subdivision if asked to do so by enough registered voters in that political subdivision. State law also requires that the entity being audited pay for the audit.
Members of the state auditor’s office will discuss the findings and recommendations contained in the audit report and answer questions about the audit.
Mayor Josh Linville said this week he is anxious for the audit report to be completed so city leaders can move on with the business at hand, such as concentrating on construction of a new park, street improvements, hiring of a new city clerk, etc.
