Gary V. Raney, 64, of Platte City was one of two people killed in a crash on Interstate 29 north of Platte City Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 4:10 p.m. Saturday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Raney was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the interstate near the North American Ave. overpass between Platte City and Camden Point. Raney’s 2001 Chevrolet struck a 2002 Buick driven by Stephanie A. Tucker, 52, of Bellevue, Neb. head-on, and both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Medical Examiner.
