A look at the crime statistics for the Platte County Sheriff’s Department and for the Platte City Police Department show that over the past year the area has seen an increase in several crimes, including assaults, burglaries and domestic violence. Platte County Sheriff Dick Anderson recently explained, however, that the county crime rate is really not out of line in comparison to population growth the county is experiencing.

Chief Joe McHale of the Platte City Police Department reported the following results for his department. The first number is the total for the year 2002 and the second number is the total from 2001.
