Platte County Commissioners on Thursday and approved a bid for network cabling in the Platte County Administration Building.
A $9,450 bid from Diamond Electric was accepted by commissioners to allow for computer network cabling. The cabling will be completed on the second floor of the Platte County Administration Building. When completed, this will conclude the building’s networking.
Two bids were received for the project. According to Stan Cooper, director of information services for the county, the budget for the network cabling is $12,500.
In other business commissioners approved a performance and maintenance bond for storm sewer improvements at Hills at Oakmond second plat.
The bond was for $40,000 to insure the completion of the project, according to Platte County Planning and Zoning.
An amendment to the Platte County Zoning Order concerning commercial and industrial billboard signs was approved.
The amendment allows Platte County to be in compliance with Kansas City sign ordinances.
According to the amendment a billboard sign must be a maximum height of 30 feet on the interstate or three feet above building height.
Kevin Kuzma, Platte County Public Affairs coordinator, gave the commissioners an update on the Citizen Corps Program.
According to Kuzma, the program was formulated following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The program unites elected officials to plan for emergencies.
The group plans to have another meeting soon and anticipates meeting once a month.
