A man found guilty of manufacturing methamphetamine in a Platte City motel has been sentenced to prison time.
Platte County Prosecutor Tammy Glick reports that Steve L. Noland, 27, of Leavenworth, has been sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for manufacturing a controlled substance.
In addition, Noland has been sentenced to five years prison time for possession of anhydrous ammonia, a Class D felony.
The charges stemmed from a Dec. 11 incident at the AmericInn Motel in Platte City. Local police and fire units had responded to a report of a strong odor of ammonia present on the motel’s first floor.
Noland was taken into custody after first refusing to open his motel room door for police. Search warrants were obtained for the room and for the suspect’s car in the parking lot.
According to court papers, items recovered included wet coffee filters, several plastic jugs, a can of acetone, a funnel, plastic baggies, electric scales, anhydrous ammonia, lithium battery cases with the lithium strips removed and several plastic containers with a white powder residue.
