Platte County Commissioners have approved a program agreement between Platte County and the Missouri Highways Transportation Commission for the 64th Street Trail Project.
The county will be awarded $500,000 from the Missouri Department of Transportation toward the funding of the $887,000 project. The trail project will involve an 1.8 mile long trail stretch from N. Cosby to Hwy. 9. Platte County will contribute $253,000 toward the project, while the City of Kansas City and the City of Parkville will each contribute $67,000.
The commissioners also approved an agreement for professional services with Akin, Gordon, Cowger for the 64th Street Trail Project. The agreement will allow the county to acquire their services regarding construction of the project throughout the completion of the trail.
Commissioners also approved a contract with Burns and McDonnell for the Brush Creek Stormwater Study. The contract states an estimated cost of the study to be $295,000.
A rezoning request for a three lot minor subdivision from AG (agricultural) to RE (single-family residential) was approved for Apex Management Systems, Inc. The rezoning approval will make two of the lots eligible for a permit for single family housing dwelling, while the other lot contains existing housing.
An agreement was also approved by the commission between the county and Sullivan Publications, Inc. for the codification of ordinances.
Commissioners also announced the proclamation of March 2002 as “Don’t Choose Crime” Month in support of the Platte County Juvenile Court Services. The purpose of this program is to involve area youth and communities in activities that transmit a single and consistent message on how to make good choices and the consequences of poor choices.
Six bids were received for dump trucks with snow plows and sand spreaders. The lowest bid came from Bennett Paul Chevrolet of Kearney for $131,926 for two units.
A request for bids was also made for an inmate cargo van and a one-ton cargo van by the Platte County Sheriff’s Department. Both bids are due by 1:30 p.m., March 7.
