State Rep. Mike Jones has announced his candidacy for Missouri Senate, seeking to represent Platte and Buchanan Counties and to replace term-limited Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Republican and first-term state representative from Platte County, Jones said his campaign will be grounded in service, independence, and a relentless work ethic shaped by his time in uniform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI’ve worn the uniform of the United States Air Force, and I understand what it means to serve something bigger than yourself,\u201d Jones said. \u201cMissouri needs leaders who will fight for our values, protect our communities, and make sure government works for the people \u2014 not the other way around.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jones served in the United States Air Force from 1997 to 2001, performing maintenance on AC-130 gunships in support of critical military operations. That experience, he said, instilled a mission-first mindset and a commitment to accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A small business owner and Air Force veteran, Jones describes himself as a maverick with an independent streak \u2014 beholden to no one except the voters he serves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI’m not running to go along to get along,\u201d Jones said. \u201cI’m running to do what’s right for the people of Platte and Buchanan Counties, no matter the pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jones has passed significant legislation already in the state house this year and is a known fighter for tax relief, school safety and other reforms in the legislature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since being elected to the Missouri House in 2024, Jones has focused on public safety, economic growth, and protecting taxpayers. He owns Elite Painting KC, a residential painting business, and holds a Missouri real estate license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jones emphasized that his campaign is built to compete and win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe’re starting this race with a strong fundraising advantage, and I plan to outwork everyone else in the field,\u201d Jones said. \u201cThat’s how I’ve approached every challenge in my life \u2014 and this campaign will be no different.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jones and his wife, Michelle, live in Kansas City. They have two children, Mike and Mya, and a grandson, Rocky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
