The First Christian Church of Platte City was the scene of the Jan. 31 wedding of Julie Ann Maxwell and Richard James Morgan. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Maxwell, Rt. 1, Platte City. Morgan, stationed in Key West, Fla., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Morgan, Soesterberg, The Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Society of Distinguished American High School Students has included these West Platte High School students in its 1981 membership. Shown are Rita Rittman, Penny Crigger, Diana Fulk, Kelly Goodlet, Steve Horseman, Jacque McGhay, James Combs IV, Robert Hayworth, Robert Sears, Bob Batterson, Wesley Safarik, and the students\u2019 sponsor, Mrs. Lana Clemens, who received a special appreciation award. The second annual Zed Martin Founder\u2019s Day will be held Saturday, July 4. Last year, the first Founder\u2019s Day event was held Aug. 17 to celebrate Platte City\u2019s 140th birthday. Zadock \u201cZed\u201d Martin, founder of Martinsville, later, Platte City, was the \u201cfirst legal white man\u201d in what was to become Platte City. Because of the response, the Platte City Park and Recreation Board, in cooperation with the City of Platte City and Chamber of Commerce, is again planning Zed Martin Day.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
