The West Platte R-2 School Board Monday night approved a plan to expand the district\u2019s curriculum and restated the board\u2019s commitment to reach Triple A status by next year. Dr. Terry Stewart, superintendent, said the board took action to implement a number of programs discussed at recent public workshop sessions which were designed to obtain feedback from school patrons. The district next year will go to a seven-period day instead of the present six periods, the superintendent said. He said the board also decided to increase the curriculum by 20 classes and also to gradually increase the requirements for graduation. The 20 classes, he said, will include some new subjects and also some more classes of the same subjects. Most districts in the state already have seven periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Knodel, Platte City, announce the birth of a son born Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Bethany Medical Center. He weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces and has been named Christopher Charles. He has two brothers and a sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
