The rally is open to all licensed drivers in any make, model or year of vehicle. The purpose is to demonstrate how driving practices can save gas and also to highlight some of Platte County\u2019s attractions. The event starts with a complimentary dinner at the Baptist Church in Weston at 11:30 a.m. A short program on conservative and safe driving practices will be offered during the meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The Platte County Courthouse and courthouse lawn were the scene last Thursday for a \u201cLast Acre\u201d ceremony to mark the completion of a countywide soil survey that has been in progress for three years. As part of the ceremony, Don Spratt, chairman of the Soil and Water Conservation District, presented John M. Reineke, presiding judge of the Platte County Administrative Court, with a soil core sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Ruth Reynolds, Platte City Extension home economist, is receiving the distinguished service award at the 1980 annual meeting of the National Association of Extension Home Economists in White Sulpher Springs, Va., at the Greenbrier.
