The sign-up has begun and dozens of horseback riders are preparing to “hit the trail” for the Fourth Annual Ride for Life. The scenic 40-mile trail ride is June 7 and 8, just north of Kansas City near Smithville. The two day event is a benefit for the Kidney Foundation, and brought in thousands of dollars last year. The trail winds in a figure eight. Rides will make camp for old-fashioned cookouts, a homemade dinner and entertainment Saturday night. Each rider needs to find sponsors and raise $20 or more in donations. Special awards will be given to those bringing in the most money.
