Sam, it was Biden’s work, not Trump’s

Potholes on I-29 at Platte City

I was just reading the March 5th edition of The Landmark’s Letters to the Editor section and came across the piece from Congressman Sam Graves.

In it, he references the passing of the Social Security Fairness Act and factually states passage by the Senate “in December” and “signed into law in early January.”

What he omits is WHO signed it into law. That would be former President Joe Biden. It was passed during the previous administration which could have only happened with bipartisan support. In a world of divide, this kind of omission doesn’t help—giving credit when or where it’s due is important. It’s more important than ever for our government to rule in favor “of the people” and to acknowledge appropriately.

Not only does the omission seem blatant, but it’s immediately followed by what appears to be an attempt to deceive, “After years of injustice, President Trump has made righting this wrong and fully implementing the Social Security Fairness Act a top priority.”

Sam Graves sure makes it sound like Trump is championing this effort, but it surely doesn’t look like it’s a priority from the current state of affairs in D.C. In fact, quite the opposite.
