Looking toward next year and anticipating budgetary shortfalls that can no longer be addressed without staff and program reductions the North Platte School Board recently unveiled a plan offering employees an incentive to leave. “We’re in the realization that our state budgets are going to be withheld even more this year,” said Superintendent Jeff Sumy. “The board is preparing to make staff cuts and wanted to make an incentive plan for those who have interests in either retiring, seeking employment at other districts or separating from North Platte.”
In a move that has created somewhat of a buzz, the Northland Regional Ambulance District (NRAD) board of directors has signed a contract to purchase property from the NRAD board president. A contract to purchase three acres of land at the southwest corner of the I-29 intersection at Camden Point (Hwy. E) is in place between NRAD and Kevin Rawlings, president of the NRAD board of directors. Purchase price of the property is $175,000. Some observers of real estate values in the county have indicated the price, in their opinion, is higher than what an appraisal of the property would show. NRAD has not had an appraisal of the property’s value performed.
The Platte County Pachyderm Club will welcome Woody Cozad and Dan Cofran to its March 3 meeting to debate the merits of the City of Kansas City earnings tax.
