KCPD LISTS REDUCTIONS IN MAJOR CATEGORIES FOR 2025

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department on Dec. 31 shared statistics for major crime categories for the year 2025.

The year-end numbers announced by the police department show significant declines in major categories.

Below are the comparisons for 2025 vs. 2024.

·Homicides fell by 5%. It was the lowest number of homicides since 2018.
·Homicide clearance rate was 75%. The national average is 58%.
·Non-fatal shootings fell by 31%.
·Robberies fell by 27%.
·Property damage fell by 19%.
·Stealing fell by 15%.
·Stolen autos fell by 32%.

“Kansas City is getting safer, as we add more officers while working hand-in-hand with our community and partners,” said police chief Stacey Graves. “The progress is real, and we will continue to work hard every day for Kansas City.”

Graves said KCPD is a “proactive, data-driven police department that embraces community partnerships to reduce crime in Kansas City and is committed to the safety and betterment of Kansas City.”

Roughly half of Platte County’s 113,000 residents live within the city limits of Kansas City.
