FIRE CHIEF TALKS ABOUT THE FULL TIME APPROACH

Troy Miller, chief for the Central Platte Fire Protection District, offered a message to patrons and taxpayers of the district in a Dec. 31, 2025 post on the fire department’s Facebook page.

In the message, Miller talked about the fire department’s full time staffing plan. He emphasized the district is not replacing volunteers, it is supporting those volunteers with full time staffers.

Here is Miller’s message in its entirety:

“As we close out this year, I want to take a moment to reflect on how far the Central Platte Fire Protection District has come—and where we are headed together.

“Over the past three years, our department has made significant strides in training, staffing, and overall operational readiness. We have continued to raise expectations, invest in continuing education, and ensure our personnel are prepared to meet the growing and evolving needs of our community. These improvements did not happen overnight, nor did they happen by chance. They are the result of intentional planning, dedicated personnel, and strong community support.

“Looking ahead, 2026 will mark a major milestone for Central Platte Fire Protection District. Beginning next year, we will provide 24/7 manned station coverage, a critical step forward in improving response times, firefighter safety, and the level of service delivered to our residents and businesses. This advancement is made possible by the investment and trust of our taxpayers, who recognized the importance of building a stronger, more resilient fire district.

“Equally important is the foundation on which this progress stands. Our volunteer firefighters—past and present—built this department into a beacon of reliability and professionalism. Their commitment, sacrifice, and service established the culture and values that continue to guide us today. As we move forward with our full-time staffing plan, it is important to be clear: our volunteers are not being replaced—they are being supported. This staffing model is designed to strengthen the department as a whole, ensuring that volunteers have the backing, resources, and consistency needed to continue serving effectively.

“To our firefighters—career and volunteer alike—thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and willingness to adapt as the department grows. To our taxpayers, thank you for your confidence and continued support. Together, we are building a fire district that honors its past while preparing for the future.

“On behalf of the Central Platte Fire Protection District, I wish you a safe and prosperous new year. We remain committed to protecting lives, property, and our community—today and for generations to come.”

Respectfully,
Troy Miller
