Many folks around the northern Platte County town of Camden Point hit the annual Freedom Festival held in that city on Saturday. There were park activities, a parade that featured many political candidates for public office, and a huge fireworks display at dark capped the festivities.
A snappily-dressed Frank Offutt, mayor of Platte City, offered some words at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new I-29 and HH bridge on Friday. The new overpass opened that day, about 30 days ahead of regular schedule. Also pictured at the ceremony was Betty Knight, presiding commissioner for Platte County.
Historic Downtown Parkville kicks off “Stars and Stripes Forever” on Thursday, July 1 when the carnival opens in the parking lot at the south end of Main Street.
