Construction continues on a new bridge over the Platte River on Hwy. Z in northeastern Platte County about two miles west of Edgerton. The new deck is set to be poured this week, then the ends will be joined to the highway, followed by painting the traffic lane markings, etc. MoDOT previously removed the old bridge, which carried approximately 700 vehicles a day. MoDOT decided to replace the 57-year-old bridge because of the age and condition of the structure. Construction of the new bridge began in the fall of 2024 and was originally expected to be done in May. New expected completion is now sometime in August, said a MoDOT rep on site. Route Z in that area is closed during construction. Westbound detour: Route B to Route 116 to Route F and back to Route Z. Eastbound detour: Route F to Route 116 to Route B and back to Route Z.
