The Landmark has been on the road again. Laura Lowry stands with an edition of the newspaper next to a statue of Dom Perignon (1638-1715) in Epernay, France. Laura, owner/operator of Barley & Vine, an upscale wine bar/brewery in Platte City, and her husband Dr. David Lowry, local pediatrician, were in Epernay, which is best known for Champagne. Dom Perignon was a Benedictine monk who was an important quality pioneer for Champagne wine. The town’s main attraction, Avenue de Champagne, is one of the most prestigious streets in the world. Champagne houses in Epernay include Moet et Chandon, Mercier, Boizel, De Vegoge, De Castellane, and Perrier Jouet. Headed somewhere noteworthy?
