Two west central Missouri Extension specialists were honored by their co-workers at a recent annual training conference at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Bob Heitmeyer, youth specialist, Sedalia, received a distinguished service award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents. Ruth Reynolds, child and family development specialist, Platte City, received a distinguished service award from the National Association of Extension Home Economists.
The Thrift Shop sponsored by the Platte City United Methodist Church will open in a new location soon at 337 Main Street, upstairs over the library. The shop will receive donations Saturday afternoon, Nov. 10, from 1-4 p.m. and Sunday and Monday, Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, from 10-2.
An open house was held Friday afternoon, Nov. 2, to introduce the new Landmark owner/publisher Dwayne Foley and Mrs. Foley and honoring Roland Giffee, who started working at The Landmark in 1929 with an after-school and Saturday job, learning the printing trade.
Mr. and Mrs. John Asher of Trimble announce the birth of their son, Andrew Josh, on Oct. 31 at the Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville.
