A 43-year-old Platte County woman has been charged with statutory rape after allegedly having consensual sex with a 16-year-old Platte City male over the course of a month.
Olesya M. King, of unincorporated Platte County south of Platte City, is jailed on the felony charge. The charge was filed on Saturday afternoon after King had been taken into custody at 12:30 a.m. that day. She remains in jail as of this writing, with her bond set at $25,000 cash or surety.
Statutory rape can be charged in Missouri when the defendant is 21 years old or older and the victim is under the age of 17.
The 16-year-old male reported the situation to his parents last week and his parents called police.
According to court documents, the teenager disclosed that he had recently met King at a local café and they began texting and talking. On Aug. 28, King followed the teen to his parents’ house in Platte City, according to court documents. After King asked to see his house, he invited her in and when inside “they talked, made out and then went to his bedroom where they had sex,” according to the allegations.
The teen disclosed there was a total “of about four to five sexual encounters with King, the last being on Monday, Sept. 30,” according to court papers.
On Tuesday and Wednesday of that week, King allegedly texted the teen asking when his mom would be home. Then on Thursday King allegedly showed up at the residence unannounced and was pounding on the door asking to come inside. The boy said he made up several excuses about why he could not let her in and she eventually left, according to court documents.
According to court papers, the teen felt the situation had gotten out of control and he disclosed the relationship to his parents. The parents felt that after she showed up at the house unannounced the situation should be reported to police, according to court documents.
On Friday, Oct. 4, King was walking up to the home and was asking to speak with the teen. There was an argument in the driveway at the home involving the parents and King, according to court documents, during which the family called 911. Platte City police arrived moments later.
According to court documents, while in custody later that night King admitted during an interview with detectives to having a sexual relationship with the 16-year-old. She allegedly admitted to knowing that he was only 16 prior to having sex with him “and knowing that his age is a problem,” the allegations state.
The allegations indicate King confirmed that she met with the victim at his parents’ house at least four times and each time they had consensual sexual intercourse.
Court documents indicate King has applied for the services of a public defender. She has requested a reduction in her bond, and a court hearing on the requested bond reduction has been scheduled for Oct. 15.
