Dearborn residents must boil their water before consuming after a water main broke early Friday. A six-inch water main along Maple Leaf Street (Z Highway) between Third Street and Commercial Street around 1 a.m. Friday morning, according to Cindy Atkison, city clerk.
Atkison said the city is still under a boil order and the city will notify residents when the order is lifted. The boil order affects all water residents may use for drinking or cooking.
Atkison said city crews had actually repaired the break by 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The crews had been repairing the main since the line was reported broken.
The cause of the break was not immediately known, but Atkison speculated there may have been too much pressure on the line.
