Editor:

I am writing this letter in support of Jason Maki because he is the right candidate for presiding commissioner. Jason is an intelligent, sincere, honest and respected person. He is not a practicing attorney, but his knowledge of the law and his ability to research it show his real passion for getting things right.

Political games won’t improve Platte County

His desire to make Platte County a better place to live is genuine. He sees Platte County not as a place for self-serving politicians, but as a community where we serve each other.

Jason is a coach for his son’s football team. He cares about safety and sports-related head trauma. He wanted the team to have fun but also to stay safe, so he set up a GoFundMe to see if the area would help supply helmet inserts for every player. This is something I can support — a small effort that makes a real difference in protecting each child on the team.

Jason wants to become the next presiding commissioner not for sweetheart deals or personal benefits. He already gives to the community by supplying security cameras during Parkville celebrations to help keep people safer from crime.

The people of Platte County need leaders who serve the public, not themselves. Jason is committed to government transparency and has lived that out in his everyday life. He challenges people in office when they are not following the law and has become a watchdog for the community.

I respect Jason Maki for holding his standards high. Platte County needs his guidance and vision. We need leaders who put the community first — givers, not takers. Please join me in electing Jason Maki for presiding commissioner.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope to see you at the polls.
