EDITOR:

On Tuesday, Aug. 4, Platte County voters joined the rest of the state to overwhelmingly defeat Amendments 4 & 5. Amendments 4 & 5 were placed on the ballot by the Republican supermajority General Assembly and were priorities for Missouri’s Republican Governor. Platte County’s Republican delegation to Jefferson City all voted in favor of these amendments, including Republican State Senate nominee Mike Jones.

Behind the scenes in treasurer’s race

The primary results show that Platte County is really a 50/50 county. Less than 200 votes separated voters who pulled a Democratic ticket from voters who pulled a Republican one. Platte County Democrats are ready to put in the work and ensure Democratic victories across Platte County in November.

This election also appears to have broken primary turnout records in Platte County. Around 38% of eligible voters showed up to make their voices heard, breaking the previous primary turnout record set in 2018 by 2%.

Welcome to the State of Missouri that is run by Republicans that are apparently trapped in some sort of echo chamber created by their own success. Honestly, I did not know a single person that thought Amendments 4 and 5...
